Scholarship Opportunities

The Conference of Inter-Mountain Archivists (CIMA) has two scholarship opportunities for the 2023 annual meeting held in Logan, Utah, from May 10-13th.

Steve Wood CIMA Meeting Scholarship

This is a $750 scholarship open to any CIMA member or student. Funds from this scholarship may be used for registration to the annual CIMA Meeting, including joint conferences and the Western Archivists Meeting, workshops offered as part of the conference, conference meals, and travel expenses.

There are two scholarships available for 2023. 

Qualifications for applicants

• Applicants must be active members of CIMA OR
• Be enrolled as a student in a program that includes library classes, archival classes, or a related discipline.

2023 Utah State Historical Records Advisory Board (USHRAB) CIMA Meeting Scholarship

This is a $750 scholarship open to archivists or associated professionals working in the state of Utah. Funds from this scholarship may be used for registration to the 2023 CIMA annual meeting, workshops offered as part of the conference, conference meals, and travel expenses. 

There are two scholarship available for 2023. Award recipients will be expected to write a short (500 word) report on their experience to be shared with USHRAB.

Qualifications for applicants

• Applicants must reside in Utah.
• Applicants must be currently employed in Utah, OR 
• Be enrolled as a student in a program that includes library classes, archival classes, or a related discipline.
• Preference for USHRAB Scholarships will be given to students, paraprofessionals, and/or candidates from underserved communities.

Application Process

Please include the following information in one PDF document:

• Name, institution, and email;
  
• 250-word cover letter including a statement of the expected benefits of attending the CIMA meeting, and why an employing institution would not be able to assist with travel funding;
• letter of reference from a person with knowledge of the applicant’s work or educational program;
• current résumé.

Deadlines

Applications must be submitted no later than March 31, 2023.

Grant and scholarship recipients will be asked to submit a report on their experience following the conference that will be published in the CIMA Newsletter.
