Kimberly Anderson, University of Nevada, Reno
STATEMENT OF INTEREST and BIO:
Hello all, I am interested in serving as CIMA Vice-President/President-Elect. I successfully ran for this position a few years ago, but reluctantly had to step down before taking on the duties due to a medical crisis. Now that I am restored to health, I am eager to serve the profession again. In my time as a practitioner I have focused my service work on broadening access to professional knowledge. Many of us do work with archives without the formal title of archivist or without adequate professional development funding. CIMA is an exemplary organization in this way as it is affordable, small enough for it to be possible to get to know people, but big enough that growing your professional network is possible. I currently serve on Nevada’s State Historical Records Advisory Board as the chair of the Education subcommittee and am excited about the Vice-President’s duties in serving as the chair of the Education Committee and organizing the Fall Caucus. My prior service roles demonstrate leadership capabilities and an enduring interest in professional service. I have held Chair and Steering committee positions for sections of the Society of American Archivist ranging from 2010 to 2022 and I have been involved with CIMA as Program Committee member (2020-2021), Council (2019-2021) and Local Arrangements Committee member (2002).
Kimberly Anderson is the Director of Distinctive Collections at the University of Nevada, Reno where she leads the activities of the Special Collections and University Archives Department and provide administrative support to the Jon Bilbao Basque Library. As Director she focuses the department on ethically acquiring and preparing materials for research use while also navigating privacy and legal issues. She strives to elevate and support staff every day. She is an experienced professional, having accepted her first full-time archives job in 2000. Dr. Anderson earned her doctorate in Information Studies and MLIS (Archives Specialization) from the University of California, Los Angeles. She earned her B.A. in Humanities from Northern Arizona University.

CIMA has been an important part of my growth as an archivist and professional as well as a way to connect to the amazing archivists in our region. If chosen for CIMA Council I would bring experience serving on state, regional and national committees as well as experience in a variety of archival work including mentoring new archivists that I would help me advocate for the programs and the needs for a range of archivists. I haven’t been involved in a more caring or inclusive archival organization and would like to continue to contribute to making the archives community in our region grow.

Hello, my name is Maggie Dwenger and I am the Public Services and Instruction Unit Lead at the University of Arizona, Special Collections. I specialize in exhibit, event, and instruction coordination as well as managing the Reading Room and improving access for our users. For the past two years I have been a member of the Education Committee, helping to organize CIMA’s Fall Caucus in both Fall 2023 and 2024.
